The official rules for the GUESS Refer-a-Friend bonus
The GUESS List is designed to make shopping, styling and brand experiences feel more rewarding. Through eligible member benefits, customers may have opportunities to earn points when they introduce friends to GUESS and Marciano. A referral can connect someone new with the brand while giving an existing member another way to build loyalty rewards.
The official rules for the Refer-a-Friend Bonus Points Program define how those rewards work. They explain who can participate, what counts as a qualified referral, when bonus points may be issued and which activities are excluded. Because promotional terms can change, the current program page and official rules always take priority over general descriptions.
A successful referral begins with accurate information and a clear understanding of the member journey. Whether a friend discovers a new denim collection, explores a seasonal campaign such as Chasing the Sun, or joins the GUESS List through an eligible invitation, each step must follow the published requirements.
Who can participate
Participation generally begins with an active GUESS List membership in good standing. The referring member must use the official referral method provided through the GUESS website, account area, email communication or another authorized channel. An invitation created outside the approved process may not qualify for bonus points.
The person receiving the invitation must meet the program’s new-member requirements. In many referral promotions, this means the friend must be new to the relevant loyalty program and must complete a specified action, such as joining the GUESS List or making a qualifying purchase. The exact action, deadline and eligibility standards are set by the applicable offer.
A member should never assume that every friend, household member or email address will qualify automatically. Duplicate accounts, previously registered customers, invalid contact details and accounts created through prohibited methods may be excluded. The official terms may also limit referrals by geography, age, account status or other legal requirements.
How a referral becomes eligible
The referral process usually has several connected stages. First, the existing member sends a personal referral through the approved link or sharing tool. Next, the invited person follows that link and completes the required enrollment or purchase within the stated promotional period. Finally, the program verifies that the activity meets all conditions before awarding points.
A referral link should be shared only with people who are likely to welcome the invitation. It should not be posted through spam, misleading advertising, automated messages or channels that violate applicable law or the program’s terms. The sender is responsible for using the referral feature in a respectful and authorized manner.
Tracking can depend on the invited person using the original referral link, entering a required code or completing the action during the same session or within a stated window. If a friend uses another promotion, changes devices, deletes cookies or joins without the referral attribution, the activity may not be credited. These technical limits help the program identify genuine referrals and prevent duplicate rewards.
When bonus points are awarded
Bonus points are typically connected to a completed qualifying action rather than the act of sending an invitation alone. A member may see a pending referral in an account before points become available. This review period allows GUESS to check whether the invited person is eligible, whether the transaction was completed and whether any return, cancellation or account issue affects the reward.
The amount of points, the maximum number of eligible referrals and the timing of the award should be confirmed in the current promotion terms. Some offers may provide a fixed number of points for each qualified friend, while others may use a limited-time multiplier or a separate enrollment incentive for the new member.
The following summary describes the types of details members should verify in the live rules. It is a practical guide rather than a replacement for the official terms governing a specific offer.
| Program detail | What members should verify |
|---|---|
| Referring member | Whether the account must be active, registered and in good standing |
| Invited friend | Whether the person must be new to the GUESS List or meet another defined standard |
| Qualifying action | Whether enrollment, a purchase or another activity triggers the bonus |
| Referral method | Which link, code, form or account feature must be used |
| Timing | The date the invitation must be sent and the deadline for completion |
| Point value | The number of bonus points available for each approved referral |
| Referral limit | Any daily, monthly, campaign or lifetime cap |
| Pending period | How long verification may take before points become available |
| Exclusions | Ineligible transactions, duplicate accounts, returns, abuse or prohibited sharing |
| Account status | Whether points can be removed if an order is canceled or an account is closed |
Points may be withheld, delayed, adjusted or reversed if the activity does not satisfy the rules. For example, a returned order may no longer meet the qualifying purchase requirement, or a duplicate registration may be removed from the referral record. A pending balance should therefore not be treated as a final reward until the program confirms it.
Responsibilities and prohibited activity
The referral bonus is intended for authentic recommendations, not artificial account creation. Members should provide truthful information, avoid making promises about rewards that are not stated in the official terms and refrain from presenting themselves as GUESS representatives. A personal invitation should accurately describe the offer without changing its conditions.
Commonly prohibited conduct may include self-referrals, creating multiple accounts, using false identities, manipulating tracking systems, purchasing through unauthorized methods or coordinating activity designed only to generate points. The rules may also restrict paid advertising, public coupon websites, automated referrals and mass distribution of invitation links.
GUESS may review referral activity to protect the loyalty program and its members. If activity appears inconsistent with the terms, the company may decline to award points, remove previously issued points, suspend an account or take other action permitted by the official rules. Any investigation or account decision is governed by the current program conditions and applicable law.
Members should keep confirmation emails, screenshots or account records when a referral appears eligible but points do not arrive within the stated processing period. Customer support may need details such as the date of the invitation, the referral email address and the completed action. Personal information should be shared only through official GUESS support channels.
Offers, events and changing terms
A referral promotion may run alongside other GUESS List benefits, seasonal campaigns or retail activations. An invitation connected to an in-store experience should still follow the referral rules, even when the friend first learns about GUESS through an event. Current events and experiences can provide useful context for how customers encounter the brand, but an event announcement does not automatically change the referral conditions.
Promotional periods may have a defined start and end time, including a time zone. An invitation sent before the start date or completed after the deadline may not earn the advertised bonus. Members should read the offer details carefully instead of relying on an image, social post or older email that may no longer reflect the active terms.
GUESS may modify, suspend or end a referral promotion where permitted by the rules. Changes may affect the point value, eligibility requirements, available rewards or referral limits. Updated conditions generally apply according to the effective date stated in the notice, while previously completed qualifying activity may be handled under the terms that applied when it occurred.
Points are loyalty benefits, not cash. The official GUESS List terms determine whether points expire, whether they can be redeemed with other offers, and what happens when a membership ends. They may also explain whether points can be transferred, sold, exchanged or combined across accounts. Members should review those provisions before planning a purchase around a referral balance.
Smart ways to use the program
A careful referral habit makes it easier to comply with the rules and track rewards. Before sharing an invitation, confirm that the current offer is active, review the qualifying action and check whether the friend has previously joined the GUESS List. This simple review can prevent an ineligible referral and avoid confusion about a pending bonus.
The referral program can complement a broader style and shopping routine. A friend may be looking for seasonal wardrobe inspiration, a statement accessory or a gift for someone special; the holiday gift guide can be a natural resource to share separately from the official referral invitation. The referral link itself should remain unaltered so attribution is preserved.
Keep these practices in mind when participating:
- Use only the referral link, code or sharing tool supplied through an official GUESS channel.
- Tell friends what action is required and direct them to the current terms for complete details.
- Avoid self-referrals, duplicate accounts, automated messages and public distribution that may violate the rules.
- Monitor pending and available points in the GUESS List account rather than relying on an estimated balance.
- Save relevant confirmation details and contact official support if an eligible referral is not reflected after the stated processing period.
These steps support a transparent member experience. They also help distinguish a genuine recommendation from activity that could be treated as manipulation, especially when a promotion includes limits or a short completion window.
Make every referral count
The GUESS Refer-a-Friend bonus is built around a straightforward exchange: an existing member shares an approved invitation, a qualifying new customer completes the required action and the program awards points after verification. The details matter, including eligibility, timing, attribution, limits, exclusions and the treatment of canceled or returned transactions.
Before participating, open the current official rules and review the GUESS List terms that apply to the offer. Then share the invitation accurately, keep track of the referral status and use your account history as the record of available points. Visit the official GUESS channels to explore active member benefits, discover new brand experiences and take part in eligible referral opportunities with confidence.
