How The #GUESSYourStyle Contest Works

Personal style is at the heart of GUESS, from denim and statement pieces to the attitude that makes an outfit feel individual. The #GUESSYourStyle social media contest invites the GUESS community to share that point of view through original content and enter for the opportunity to be recognized by the brand.

A social promotion can look simple from the outside, but every entry is governed by specific requirements. The official rules determine who may participate, when an entry is accepted, what content qualifies, how winners are selected, and what happens after the contest closes.

Before posting, participants should review the current rules on GUESS Journal and the instructions published through the authorized GUESS social account. The details in those materials control if a question arises, especially when entry dates, prize descriptions, or platform instructions change.

Who Can Participate

Eligibility is the first requirement to check. The official terms should identify the minimum age, residency restrictions, and any other qualifications that apply to the promotion. Social media contests may be limited to legal residents of particular countries, states, or territories, and local law can affect who is allowed to receive a prize.

Employees of GUESS, Marciano, their parent companies, affiliates, agencies, representatives, and immediate family or household members are commonly excluded. The same restriction may apply to people professionally connected with administering the promotion. Participants should use their own account and provide accurate information if selected.

Age requirements deserve particular attention. If the contest is open to minors in a specific jurisdiction, the rules may require permission from a parent or legal guardian. If the promotion is restricted to adults, an otherwise creative and eligible-looking post cannot qualify if the entrant does not meet the stated age standard by the required date.

How An Entry Becomes Valid

The entry process should be followed exactly as written. That may involve publishing an original photo, video, Reel, or other social post; using the designated hashtag; tagging or following an official account; and keeping the account public during the entry period. Missing one required step can make a submission ineligible.

The post must usually be made during the dates and times listed in the official rules. A late upload, an edited submission made after the deadline, or a post that disappears before judging may not be counted. Participants should save a screenshot of the final entry and retain the original file in case the sponsor needs to verify ownership or timing.

Creative direction can guide the submission without requiring everyone to dress alike. A participant might showcase a GUESS look, interpret a seasonal trend, or present a personal styling perspective that reflects the campaign theme. For inspiration, the statement blazer ideas guide offers a useful example of how one versatile piece can support different moods and silhouettes.

Content Standards And Brand Safety

An eligible entry must be original and created by the person submitting it, unless the rules expressly allow another format. Participants should have permission from anyone visibly featured and should avoid using copyrighted music, artwork, logos, photographs, or third-party footage without the necessary rights. Content copied from another account can be rejected even if it is reposted with credit.

The rules may prohibit material that is unlawful, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit, deceptive, defamatory, or unsafe. Posts that promote dangerous behavior, misuse the GUESS name, or include another company’s advertising may also be disqualified. Children, private individuals, and recognizable locations should be treated with care when they appear in a submission.

Disclosure is another important part of a compliant post. If an entrant has received products, compensation, or another benefit connected with the promotion, the appropriate disclosure should be clear and easy to notice. A contest hashtag does not automatically replace every disclosure required by advertising or consumer-protection standards.

Rule Area What Participants Should Check Why It Matters
Entry window Opening and closing date, time zone, and accepted post types Determines whether the submission is timely
Eligibility Age, residency, account status, and exclusions Confirms that the entrant can legally participate
Required actions Hashtag, tag, follow, public profile, and form requirements Shows that all entry steps were completed
Content rights Originality, permissions, music, images, and visible people Protects the sponsor and other individuals
Judging Creativity, relevance, quality, or other stated criteria Explains how eligible entries are evaluated
Winner contact Response deadline and verification documents Prevents a selected entrant from losing the prize
Prize terms Description, approximate value, restrictions, and taxes Clarifies what is awarded and what the winner pays

Judging, Selection, And Notification

The official rules should explain whether winners are selected by judges, random drawing, public voting, or a combination of methods. A judged contest may evaluate creativity, originality, execution, visual appeal, connection to the theme, and compliance with the brief. The sponsor’s stated criteria should be treated as the standard rather than personal expectations about what will perform well.

High engagement does not necessarily guarantee selection. Likes, comments, and shares may help a post reach more people, but they do not replace the judging method unless the rules specifically make public voting part of the decision. Participants should avoid artificial engagement, automated activity, purchased followers, or coordinated behavior intended to manipulate results.

Potential winners are typically contacted through the account information associated with the entry. The rules may provide only a limited period to respond, complete an affidavit, confirm eligibility, or sign a publicity release. If the sponsor cannot reach a selected entrant, the person declines the prize, or verification reveals an ineligible entry, an alternate winner may be chosen.

Prizes, Publicity, And Ownership

Prize descriptions should be read carefully. The listed award may include merchandise, a gift card, an experience, or another benefit, and it may be subject to availability, blackout dates, brand restrictions, or expiration. Unless the rules state otherwise, prizes generally cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to another person, or replaced with a different item at the winner’s request.

Tax responsibility is an important practical detail. Depending on the prize value and the winner’s location, the sponsor may be required to report the award or request tax documentation. Winners should rely on the official rules and their own professional adviser for tax questions rather than assuming that the published retail value is the final financial impact.

Social contests also require permission to use submitted material. The rules may grant GUESS and its affiliates a broad license to reproduce, edit, publish, display, distribute, and promote an entry across brand channels. That permission can cover the entrant’s name, handle, image, voice, and likeness. Participants should understand this license before posting and should make sure all featured people have given the permissions required for the content.

Privacy, Platform Terms, And Disputes

Entering through Instagram, TikTok, or another platform does not make that platform the sponsor. The promotion should identify the sponsoring entity and explain that the social network is not responsible for administering, endorsing, or fulfilling the contest. Participants remain subject to the platform’s own terms, community standards, and privacy settings.

Personal information may be collected to administer the contest, verify a winner, deliver a prize, comply with legal obligations, or manage publicity. The privacy notice linked in the official materials explains how information is handled and how long it may be retained. Participants should be cautious about unsolicited messages and should never send passwords, payment details, or sensitive identity documents through an unverified account.

The rules may also address technical failures, unauthorized intervention, fraud, suspended accounts, force majeure events, and the sponsor’s right to modify or cancel the promotion where permitted by law. Dispute provisions can specify governing law, venue, liability limits, and whether individual claims must be resolved through arbitration. These clauses may feel formal, but they define the legal framework for the promotion.

Ways To Keep An Entry Compliant

A strong submission combines a recognizable point of view with careful attention to the administrative details. The creative concept can be bold, polished, playful, or minimal, while the entry itself remains easy to verify. Before publishing, participants should complete a quick review:

  • Read the current official rules and record the exact closing time.
  • Confirm age, residency, account, and eligibility requirements.
  • Use the required hashtag and account tag exactly as published.
  • Check that every person, image, song, and location in the content is cleared for use.
  • Save proof of the post, including its timestamp, caption, and public visibility.

After entry, keep the account and submission available for the period required by the rules. Do not delete or substantially alter the post unless the promotion expressly allows edits. Watch the authorized GUESS account and the email address connected with the social profile for a legitimate notification, while treating requests for payment or login credentials as warning signs.

A thoughtful styling story can also make the content more distinctive. The Marciano campaign models feature shows how attitude, casting, and wardrobe work together in brand storytelling. Participants can draw inspiration from that visual language while keeping their own submission original and personal.

GUESS and Marciano campaigns are built around self-expression, and the #GUESSYourStyle promotion gives that idea a direct social format. The best entry is still one that satisfies the legal requirements: timely, original, properly disclosed, respectful of other people’s rights, and submitted exactly as instructed.

Read the official rules, create a look that reflects your style, and share your entry through the authorized GUESS social channel before the stated deadline. Participation is your opportunity to bring the GUESS point of view into your own feed—carefully, creatively, and on your own terms.
